Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center is a nonprofit organization established in 1988 by a group of equine professionals to provide therapy for persons in mid-Missouri with physical, mental and emotional disabilities using the horse as a therapeutic tool. Cedar Creek has been accredited for over 30 years by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH). Our mission is to provide equine assisted therapy to individuals with disabilities in mid-Missouri. Therapeutic Horseback Riding is an established treatment method widely recognized by medical, psychiatric, and social service professionals throughout the world. The movement of the horse increases balance, coordination, muscle conditioning and improves stamina for those with physical disabilities. For others, the therapy focuses on maximizing communication skills, behavior, emotional health, social skills and cognitive skills. Cedar Creek is recognized nationally for its proactive treatment programs for people with physical challenges, and emotional needs to develop to their maximum potential through safe, professional, ethical interaction with horses.
