Dear Cedar Creek Supporter,
As you can imagine the pandemic has affected our clients’ ability to participate in therapies, as well as our ability to serve large numbers safely. Our Spring 2020 session came to a screeching halt once the virus hit America, however, we quickly adapted with on-line virtual lessons. We still lost 45% of our clients who were either too young or did not have the cognitive ability to benefit from virtual lessons. With mandatory lockdown this summer, we took a huge financial hit of an 85% rider revenue loss and now for our Fall Session, we are limited to a 40% rider enrollment. Most of our riders have disabilities which require 2 side-walkers to ride safely, which does not allow for social distancing, thus reducing whom we can serve. As always, safety is our first concern.
CCTRC is funded by client fees, donations, and grants. Generally, client fees pay for about half of what it costs to provide services. Donations and grants enable us to keep about 95-110 riders in the saddle for each of our therapeutic riding sessions during a normal year. Reduced ridership during 2020 has caused a budgetary downfall of $70,000.00. Unfortunately, the cost of keeping a 20-horse farm going during a pandemic has not been reduced. With a large host of expenses (feeding our beloved herd of therapists, veterinary care, maintaining the farm and keeping enough scholarship money on hand to get everyone “back in the saddle” again), we are seeking ways to keep afloat in hopes of still being here for our clients when things return to normal.
We are asking our friends and families to help with some much-needed assistance at this time. If there ever was a situation where we needed your support, it is now. If you can give, please do. Watching our riders take risks, meet challenges, build confidence, and become independent is the reason we do what we do. Cedar Creek has changed hundreds of lives in this community. Both riders and volunteers have experienced these benefits. With your support, we will remain an important resource for those who need us!
Donate to cedar creek and give a gift of life changing therapy on the back of a horse
Cedar Creek relies on the generosity of community members and organizations to keep our riders in the saddle. Rider fees only cover part of the therapy we provide, but we keep the cost of therapy as low as possible for the riders. Each session "costs" $400 but the real cost is almost twice as much. A donation to Cedar Creek goes directly back to the program: Care for the horses, scholarships for riders in need, staff and facility costs to keep everyone riding safely.

Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center is a 501(c) not-for-profit and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Cedar Creek does not receive any direct Federal, State or United Way funding and relies on the generosity of the community to keep our riders in the saddle! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your support.
